# customDTF

> Shopify software for DTF (direct-to-film) print shops. customDTF lets a shop's own customers
> design, size, or upload DTF gang sheets directly on the store's product pages, and turns every
> order into a 300 DPI print-ready file automatically — without ever creating a Shopify product variant.

customDTF is a Shopify app published as "Custom DTF: Gang Sheet Builder". It is free to install.
The first 10 gang sheets carry no commission; after that the fee is 4% of gang-sheet product sales
per order (shipping, taxes and tips excluded), hard-capped at $500 per 30-day billing cycle, billed
through Shopify's own billing.

## The three selling flows

- **Gang Sheet Builder** — a drag-and-drop canvas embedded on the product page. Customers upload
  artwork, auto-nest it onto the sheet, clean it up (background removal, halftone conversion, AI
  upscaling), and add to cart at a live-calculated price.
- **Transfer by Size** — customers pick a print size and quantity the way they would buy a garment.
  The app packs the transfers onto sheets and prices the order automatically.
- **Upload Gang Sheet** — for customers who design elsewhere. They upload print-ready files up to
  1 GB, pay by the inch with volume tiers, and go straight to checkout.

## What makes it technically different

Most Shopify gang sheet apps create a new product variant for every custom sheet. That pollutes the
catalog and analytics, eventually collides with Shopify's hard 2048-variant-per-product ceiling, and
breaks later reorders when cleanup jobs delete the variants customers try to buy again.

customDTF never creates a variant. Each flow sells through one permanent product, and the exact price
is applied at checkout by Shopify Functions — Shopify's own native checkout pricing mechanism. Nothing
is minted, nothing needs cleaning up, no variant cap can be hit, and a reorder placed months later
still resolves to the correct sheet and price.
