We build DTF software for people who actually print.

customDTF makes Shopify software for direct-to-film print shops — one app that lets your customers design, size, or upload their own gang sheets, and hands you a print-ready file on every order.

What we make

customDTF is a single Shopify app, published on the Shopify App Store as Custom DTF: Gang Sheet Builder. It covers the three ways people actually buy DTF transfers, because most shops get all three kinds of customer and were previously stitching together separate tools for each:

  • Gang Sheet Builder — a drag-and-drop canvas on your product page for customers who want to lay out their own sheet.
  • Transfer by Size — for garment shops that think in print sizes and quantities, not sheet layouts.
  • Upload Gang Sheet — for professionals who already have a finished sheet and just want it priced by the inch and printed.

The decision the whole product is built around

Nearly every gang sheet app on Shopify creates a new product variant for each custom sheet a customer configures. It is the path of least resistance, and it is why so many DTF stores end up with tens of thousands of junk variants in their admin, analytics that cannot be read, and a scheduled cleanup job quietly deleting the exact variants customers try to reorder later. Shopify also enforces a hard ceiling of 2,048 variants per product — a limit that does not feel real until the day your customers cannot check out.

We decided early that we would never create a variant, even though it made the engineering considerably harder. Each flow sells through one permanent product, and the exact price is applied at checkout by Shopify Functions — Shopify’s own native checkout pricing mechanism. Nothing is minted, so nothing needs cleaning up, no cap can be reached, and a reorder placed six months later still resolves to the right sheet at the right price, because there was never a temporary variant to expire.

That single constraint shaped everything else: the order flow, the reorder feature, the print pipeline, and the pricing model. If you want the practical version of this argument, the comparison guide turns it into seven questions you can ask any vendor.

How we make money

We are transparent about this because pricing models in this category are often deliberately hard to compare. The app is free to install with no monthly subscription. Your first 10 gang sheets carry no commission. After that we take 4% of gang-sheet product sales per order — shipping, taxes, and tips excluded — hard-capped at $500 per 30-day billing cycle. Everything is billed through Shopify’s own billing and appears on your regular Shopify invoice; we never handle your card details.

The consequence is that we only earn when you sell, and we stop earning more once you get big. Full detail is on the pricing page.

What we do not do

  • We are Shopify-only. There is no WooCommerce, Wix, BigCommerce, or Etsy version, and we will tell you that before you waste a trial on it. The variant-free architecture depends specifically on Shopify Functions.
  • We do not print. customDTF is software. You keep your printer, your film, your margins, and your customer relationships.
  • We do not lock features behind tiers. There is one plan and it includes everything.

Working with us

If you would rather not configure it yourself, our team will do the whole setup for free — you grant Shopify collaborator access, we install and configure the app, set your printer width and pricing, create your products, and place the storefront widgets, then you revoke access in one click. Details on the free setup page, including a two-minute video if you would rather do it yourself.

For anything else, email support@customdtf.com or use the contact form. We read everything and usually reply within one business day.
