How gang sheet pricing actually works.

1. Area is everything

DTF is sold by area, not by design count. Width × length gives square inches, and every cost and price in the business is a rate against that number.

2. Waste is a real cost

Trim, margins, and misprints get paid for but never sold. Shops that ignore waste systematically overestimate their margin — which is why tighter nesting is worth money.

3. Labour decides viability

Material is often the smaller number. If a sheet takes 20 minutes of manual layout, that labour can exceed the film cost — which is the entire argument for automating layout.

How do you calculate the cost of a DTF gang sheet?
Multiply the sheet width by its length to get the printed area in square inches, then multiply that by your all-in cost per square inch — film, ink, and powder. Add a waste allowance for margins, misprints, and the trim you cannot use, then compare that figure against what you charge for the same area to get your gross profit. Labour and shipping sit on top of that and are what most shops forget.
What is a typical DTF cost per square inch?
Published market prices for finished gang sheets in 2026 run roughly from about $0.014 to $0.04 per square inch depending on volume, supplier, and region — so a shop’s own production cost sits below that range. Your real number depends on your printer, film grade, ink consumption, and how much you waste, which is exactly why you should measure it rather than copy a figure from a blog.
What size is a standard DTF gang sheet?
22 inches is the most common width because it matches the most widely used DTF film rolls, with lengths typically ordered anywhere from 24 to 84 inches. But width is really set by your printer, not by convention — shops running 13-inch or 24-inch machines size sheets accordingly, and length should simply follow the order.
How much should I charge for gang sheets?
Work backwards from a target gross margin rather than matching the cheapest competitor. Calculate your true cost per square inch including waste, decide the margin your labour and overhead require, and set your per-square-inch rate from there. Then add volume tiers so longer sheets get a lower rate — that rewards the larger orders that are cheaper for you to produce per inch.
